What is the grading scale for Clarkston Community Schools? ›

Clarkston Community Schools utilizes a general percentage-based grading system that is applied to all assignments (tests, homework, etc.) to determine quarter grades. This percentage system can range from 0-100% with corresponding letter grades.

Policy: CHS students are allotted a maximum of 12 absences per semester.

Students are expected to dress appropriately for school. All students must refrain from wearing excessively baggy or sagging cloth- ing, pants must be pulled up on the waist, and shirts must be tucked in.

Clarkston Community Schools is a highly regarded school district with an enrollment of approximately 6,500 students. We have seven elementary schools (K-5), one middle school serving grades 6-7, one junior high for grades 8-9, and Clarkston High School, which serves students in grades 10-12.

The seven point scale uses 7 percentages between each letter grade. Occasionally, if it is 0.5 below the actual number (–0.5 shown below) then it will round up. The possible grades are A, B, C, D, F, and I, which stands for incomplete.

If the student reaches five (5) unexcused absences, the family will receive a hand-delivered or certified letter with official notification that any further unexcused absences will result in charges being filed as required by state law and local protocols.

In the United States, academic performance is evaluated using 5, 6, to 7-letter grades. The conventional grading scale includes A+, A, A-, B+, B-, B-, C+, C-, D+, D, D- and F, with A+ being the highest grade and F being the lowest.

High schools often report GPA (grade point average) on a 4.0 scale. The top grade is an A, which equals 4.0. You calculate your overall GPA by averaging the scores of all your classes.

A simple method for curving grades is to add the same amount of points to each student's score. A common method: Find the difference between the highest grade in the class and the highest possible score and add that many points. If the highest percentage grade in the class was 88%, the difference is 12%.

A final calculation of G.P.A. and class rank is determined at the end of the senior year and will be reflected on the final transcript which is sent to colleges. CFISD uses a weighted 6.0 grading scale.
